Before moving here myself, I didn't quite know what to expect or what Asheville would mean to me. Asheville had been recommended to me many times for different reasons. People spoke of their experiences of waterfalls, mountain views, breweries, live music, and my personal favorite- incredible restaurants! But there is another side of Asheville that locals and visitors alike have cherished for years—a vibrant wellness and spiritual community dedicated to healing, relaxation, and personal growth. While walking to local coffee shops and checking out their community bulletin boards full of offerings, this is the first thing I noticed. A huge sense of community and diversity at my fingertips. An eclectic culture of authentic and expressive humans who emanate kindness. The environment puts my mind and spirit at ease.
Whether you're planning a weekend getaway, celebrating a special occasion, or simply looking for something unique to do, experiencing Reiki in Asheville deserves a place on your bucket list. I'll tell you why.
Asheville Is More Than Mountains and Breweries
Asheville has long attracted artists, healers, nature lovers, and people seeking a deeper connection with themselves. The pace here invites you to s l o w d o w n and breathe.
After days spent hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, exploring downtown shops, or enjoying the city's food scene, many visitors find themselves craving something equally nourishing for the soul.
That's where Reiki comes in.
A Reiki session offers an opportunity to step away from the noise, quiet the mind, and experience profound relaxation. Many people describe it as one of the most peaceful experiences of their trip.
What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy healing practice that promotes relaxation and supports the body's natural ability to restore balance. Sessions are fully clothed and involve light touch or hands hovering above the body. Reiki translates to "spiritually guided (chi) life force energy." Chi/ prana/ ki also means "breath". We are working with the energy you breathe, that you already are, that is all around you. There are many ways our energy gets thrown off balance -from our environment or life experiences. You may be depleted in some places in the body, excessive in others. Reiki can clear stagnant energy, old stored emotional wounding, energy from others you've collected empathically. It can support and fill areas that seem weak, helping you feel stronger and more like yourself again. It can clear the noise and reconnect you to your personal intuition. As a practitioner, my role is to curate the space, send the reiki and then observe where it goes and what it's doing in your body and then report back to you after. I am not personally manipulating your energy in any way. I'm just the conduit and facilitator. We are both surrendering to whatever comes up. Every session is a little different, it all depends what is the most pressing thing going on with you on the day you show up in my office.
People often seek Reiki for:
Stress and anxiety
Emotional overwhelm
Life transitions
Burnout
Physical discomfort
Spiritual growth
Better sleep
Feeling grounded and refreshed
While every experience is unique, most people leave feeling calmer, lighter, and more connected to themselves. It's a quick and effective energetic reset. It's amazing what just one hour can do! Reiki is a gift for receiving. There is nothing required of you- just your presence and an open mind!
A Unique Thing to Do in Asheville
There are countless things to do in Asheville, but not many experiences leave you feeling genuinely restored.
Unlike checking another attraction off your list, a Reiki session creates space to pause and receive.
Many visitors schedule a session:
After long travel days
Following hiking adventures
During wellness retreats
On solo trips for self-care
During girls' weekends
As part of anniversary celebrations
Before returning home to everyday life
It has become one of Asheville's hidden gems for those seeking something meaningful and memorable.
Reiki Isn't Just for Tourists

Although visitors often discover Reiki while traveling, locals in Asheville have embraced energy healing as part of their ongoing wellness routine.
Many residents schedule regular sessions to support:
Stress management
Work-life balance
Emotional wellness
Recovery from challenging seasons
Personal and spiritual growth
Just as some people prioritize massage, yoga, or meditation, Reiki can become an important part of caring for the mind, body, and spirit.
Looking for Relaxing Things to Do in Asheville?
Vacation doesn't always have to mean constant activity.
Sometimes the most memorable experiences are the ones that allow you to slow down.
Imagine spending the morning hiking among waterfalls, enjoying lunch downtown, and then ending the day with a peaceful Reiki session.
Many guests say that their session became one of the highlights of their Asheville trip because it offered something they didn't even realize they needed: permission to rest.
Couples Are Discovering Reiki Together

Couples visiting Asheville are increasingly searching for experiences that help them connect beyond dinner reservations and sightseeing.
A couples Reiki session can provide:
Deep relaxation
Meaningful quality time
A shared spiritual experience
Stress relief
Space for conversation and reflection
Whether celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, or simply enjoying a mountain getaway, many couples find that receiving Reiki together becomes one of the most memorable parts of their visit. Couple's reiki has actually become a specialty of mine. I feel really passionate about helping couples navigate their relational dynamics (both strengths and weaknesses) that get personally presented during a session. Also, maybe one person is really interested in reiki and their partner is skeptical/ shy / hesitant / not the "spiritual one" ; getting it done together can ease that introduction.
Here is a recent review from a lovely couple I worked with:
"Did the Couple’s Reiki. First-timers. Christie was gentle, kind, personable, relatable, and educated. Our experience was not only enjoyable but extremely healing and connective. We are not very religious people, but we are very science-focused and logical, often skeptical. Our experience was so phenomenal, it is very clear to us Reiki is a strong tool we hope to utilize with Christie again soon. Highly recommend." -Grayson S.

Asheville's Spirit of Healing
There is something special about Asheville.
Perhaps it's the mountains, the slower pace, or the creative and open-hearted people who call this area home. When I first moved here I was puzzled by how genuinely friendly the locals were! Whatever the reason, many visitors describe feeling different here—as though they can finally exhale.
Reiki naturally complements that spirit.
It invites you to slow down, reconnect, and leave feeling refreshed not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.
Add Reiki to Your Asheville Bucket List

Whether you're visiting for a weekend or have called Asheville home for years, taking time to nurture yourself is always worth it.
After all, some of the most unforgettable travel experiences aren't found on a trail or in a restaurant.
Sometimes, they're found in the quiet moments when you allow yourself to simply receive.
About Christie

I've had a private reiki practice since 2016. During that time I've also been working with breast cancer patients alongside a surgeon who started the non profit organization HCF (Healing Consciousness Foundation). Reiki has helped these patients with relieving pre op anxiety as well as speeding up post op recovery. There is definitely a place for reiki in the medical field as many nurses are being trained and learning it's complimentary nature and holistic benefits. I come from a Christian background where as young as 12 I was part of a "hands on healing" prayer team where I firsthand witnessed real results- discovering the incredible affects and power of both prayer and physical touch used with Holy intention. I do my best to create a nurturing safe space for my clients to be vulnerable and honest about their feelings and experiences. I individually tailor each session to be of service to whatever intentions or spiritual beliefs the client holds. Reiki is not religious by nature, but it's very spiritual! We are all sacred beings on a sacred path. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
